Frequently Asked Questions
Sort of! Handtied wefts are carefully made strand by strand, hence cutting them can cause the weft to unravel if not done properly.
To help prevent this issue, our handtied wefts come in 4 pre-cut pieces of 11" each. In addition, we also have pre-designated cutpointers that allow professional hair stylists to cut the 11" pre-cut pieces even shorter, if required.
The choice between a machine weft, handtied weft, and genius weft depends on the preferences and lifestyle of the client that you are installing the wefts on. Additionally, each weft has its pros and cons.
Machine Weft
A machine weft is made through a mechanized process that involves sewing strands of hair onto a strong, reinforced weft.
- Pros: Affordable, Very durable, Very little shedding
- Cons: Bulkier appearance
Handtied Weft
A handtied weft is made through a labor-intensive process where individual strands of hair are meticulously tied by hand onto a thin weft.
- Pros: Natural look, Flexible, Lightweight, Not bulky, Slightly more shedding
- Cons: Higher cost, Less durable
Genius Weft
A genius weft is a hybrid between the two weft types in that a very specialized machinery is used to keep the weft thin, yet keep the weft reinforced.
- Pros: Lightweight (slightly more than handtied), Durable, Not bulky, Very little shedding
- Cons: Highest cost
Consider your client's styling preferences, comfort, and budget when deciding between the three options.
